Re-architecting Zip Business to unlock new product horizons.
Zip Business was a simple B2B flexible credit provider, offering small businesses the ability to make payments on credit, split them into flexible installments and manage their accounts all from a mobile app.
The app had been designed solely around these capacities with little room to grow into new product features and functions.
The Zip Business app needed a complete overhaul to open up its future, while still providing for the immediate needs of customers.
Zip Business was a B2B flexible credit provider, used by small, micro and nano-businesses, typically for the purchase of equipment and materials and supplies.
The product was to move beyond its simple flexible payments offering and transition into a spend management platform, offering customers several new categories of controls and functionalities through their mobile app.
Major changes to the app's architecture were needed in order to accomodate several years worth of phased feature releases while minimizing disruption at check-out for existing customers.
The core functionality of the app was centered around a homescreen with various controls and a barcode to facilitate payments in-store.
This three week project led to a rapid overhaul of the app's UI as well as the beginnings of a new design system for Zip Business.
Through extensive planning and a systematic breakdown of the app's layout and architecture, the initial MVP of the new mobile app launched successfully to positive reviews from customers.
The launch of the app redesign also unlocked full commitment to delivering the first stages of Zip Business' upcoming spend management vision.
